My name is Michelle Murray and I am a practicing License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with an Independent Clinical Supervisor (ICS) license which allows me to provide offerings for individual and group supervision for Advanced Practice Social Workers working towards their LCSW and Substance Abuse Counselors-in-Training to obtain their SAC or Clinical Supervisor-in-Training to obtain their Independent Clinical Supervisor (ICS) licensure. I have been in practice for 20 plus years with a focus specifically around supervision and providing clinical mentorship for the past 10 years of my career. I enjoy working with a wide range of clinical practice, framework and/or therapeutic orientations while guiding individuals through the licensure process. If you choose to obtain supervision or peer consult, my approach will depend on need, goals for licensing and collaboration with the supervise and/or practicing clinician to create the best mix of supervision and/or consultation that promotes personal and professional growth. My supervision style is a mix of person-centered supervision while looking through a lens of the developmental model while collaboratively working with the individual to determine their level of practice, skillset and understanding the therapeutic relationship(s). I pull hints of a psychodynamic approach when looking at the client/clinician relationships, supervisor and supervise relationship, reactions, defense mechanisms and transference and countertransference. Together we will look at not only what is happening for the client but the clinician and how that is playing out in sessions/treatment and possible patterns in the working relationship.
